DAY
Trip
Morning:

Our day starts at the main port of Manaus, from where we will head downstream the Rio Negro to see the Meeting of the Waters (two rivers which do not mix). After a short explanation on this phenomenon, our trip continues further to visit the “floating village” called Catalão, which consists of many typical Amazonian houses and local families (Caboclos), who will offer you some handmade souvenirs for purchase. After leaving this floating village, you will have the chance to see the Amazon’s largest fresh water scale-fish called the Arapima (Pirarucu) which is also the most expensive fish in Manaus.

Lunchtime:

Upon entering into the Janauari Ecological Park on our journey further upstream, you will be seeing monkeys, giant water lilies as well as the Samauma Tree, which is the largest species of tree in the world. We will have lunch in this park and you will be able to choose from many typical fruits, vegetables, regional fresh water fishes as well as local juices from a big buffet offered by local cooks.

Afternoon:

Our afternoon program consists of two main events: swimming with the pink dolphins and visiting the native Dessana tribe. The boat drive to the pink dolphins will last approximately one hour and from there it will be only 15min until we reach the Dessana tribe, who will greet us with a warm welcoming local dance and special instrumental songs. The family will show you their traditional customs and way of living as well as local animals, such as the famous Anaconda snake, the Caiman and Sloth, which they view and treat as their pets.
On the way back to Manaus, we stop to have a final swim of the day.
